What a shame. I knew a guy that raced in the midwest, and was a contemporary of Mr. Trickle. The stories about the guy are legendary, like the time he blew up his car's engine, so he too the motor out of his car hauler but somehow cracked the distributor while installing it. Using duct tape, he got thing running, lapped the field three times and won the race. Then, he put the motor back in the hauler and drove home.

Tom Cruise' character in Days Of Thunder was named Trickle in tribute.
