Holy shit. The devastation in Alberta caused by major flooding is unbelievable. Here's a house hitting in a bridge in Bragg Creek:

The Trans Canada Highway. This is in the Bow Valley, no travel East of Canmore. They can go as far west as Banff...about 40 miles or so. TC Hwy heading East is blocked by mudslides. I saw a lot of flooding in the valley through the years but never anything like this.

Damn, tapatalk wants me to upgrade to load more images...

Oh, FFS.

Many First Nation's are saying she's pissed at the oil industry. They may have a valid point.

Well...I'm sure it's impacting farms as it heads East....lots of grain farmed in Alberta. 4 deaths so far...:(

No, she's angry with the gluten abusers like Angel...

Then why did she flood Alberta? She'd have a better chance getting me in the province I actually live in, wouldn't she?

Now get in the kitchen and make me a cornbread sandwich. Organic corn of course...

ELVIS
06-22-2013, 02:44 PM
organic, non-gmo corn...

Corn is gluten free, BTW...

Yes, I know it is. Why do you think I told you to make a cornbread sandwich? I only buy organic Taber corn when it's available. It's a highlight of my summer.

Stay Safe My Friends Up North.:high5:

They still won't let my cousin in High River go rescue her dogs. Poor things. My cousin near Drumheller is on evacuation alert. Calgary is adamant the Stampede will still happen in 2 weeks. I have no idea how they're going to make it happen. Canmore, where I was born is a total mess. :(

Itīs hard to imagine the scale of devastation cause by flooding.
Rural communities are very vulnerable, I hope they overcome and no more lives are lost.

All in all, fatalities have been small, all things considered. A former schoolmate of my cousin died trying to rescue people though. So sad.

The communities in the Bow Valley, who are normally arch rivals have really come together to help each other. I'm really impressed by Calgary's mayor. He's done a great job. They say no one will bother running against him next election because he's so popular. I was impressed when he got elected in the first place. No mean feat for a Muslim male in cowtown.

I wish I could afford to go to the Stampede. Starts July 5. How they're going to do it is beyond me, but Calgarians have tenacity...they'll manage somehow. Loving their motto this year: "come hell or high water". It IS the greatest show on earth, after all.

Proud of my home boys in my home province...

I'm not expecting any flooding here ( I live on top of a hill, so I wouldn't get hit anyway) but damn there's been some freaky hard monsoon-type storms here this week.

Rain ain't all that unusual here in June (unfortunately) but it doesn't usually look like this. This shit looks like November (only warmer). If it keeps up, I'm sure the usual "flood zones" will probably take the hit.

Yeah, Mom said the island has been getting hit hard too. Damn it, if there's gonna be climate change, I want South Pacific weather. Not this shit...
