Darren Daulton has terminal cancer :(

A couple sources are giving him at most 1-3 years.

Man this sucks. I remember how much fun it was to watch the "Philadelphia Philthies" back in the day. Daulton, Kruk, Dykstra, etc... All had long hair lol. Fucking a rag tam motley team if ever there were one. But man they could play some rough & tumble baseball. You just knew they were all drinking beer in the dugout and probably had a Hustler floating around to gawk & hoot at. They were just a fun team to watch with regular guys.

Darren Daulton diagnosed with 'highly malignant' brain cancer

here's discouraging news on former Phillies catcher Darren Daulton, who recently underwent surgery to remove a pair of brain tumors. While the surgery was successful, the tumors, according to a statement released by the Philadelphia radio station Daulton works for, were found to be malignant (Delaware Online).

Specifically, Daulton has been diagnosed with glioblastoma, a form of brain cancer the American Brain Tumor Association characterizes as being "highly malignant."

According to the ABTA, patients with glioblastoma typically survive 14 months to three years.

More from the statement released by 97.5 FM The Fanatic, where Daulton hosts a call-in show:

"[Daulton] has returned to his Clearwater, [Fla.]-area home to continue recuperating amongst his immediate family and friends. He will eventually begin treatments in Florida. Darren and his family wish to thank everyone for their loving support throughout this difficult time. He is deeply touched."

Daulton, 51, spent parts of 14 seasons with the Phillies and retired following the 1997 campaign. He finished that season with the Marlins, with whom he won his only World Series ring.

Our prayers for strength and healing go out to Daulton and his family.

Fuck I hate glioblastoma the most! I'm also sick of breast cancer awareness campaigns. It's not the only cancer out there, or the deadliest. Glio is considered rare, yet is consistently being diagnosed in higher numbers. Grey is the new pink...

I suppose the only bright side is knowing when roughly and being able to get your affairs in order, do a few things you've always wanted, and say your goodbyes & make amends with anyone you need to. Many don't have that chance.

I had cancer. Thankful ever day it wasn't in my skull. The way I viewed mine was 7,500 people in the US get it every year. So 7,500 cancers are floating around looking for someone to hop in to. And I took 1 of the 7,500 and hopefully prevented some young child from grabbing that 1 of 7,500. If that makes any sense....I mean, if 7,500 people have to get it each year, better me than some 9 year old who should be outside wrestling with his dogs & thinking about Pokemons.

It was the same cancer that took Gary Carter...unreal...

Did Daulton use roids? I just remember the Philthies back then chewing tobacco & having long hair. Great fun team to watch in those playoffs.
