Tumbledown Trails Golf Course issues apology

(AP) – A golf course is apologizing for advertising nine holes of golf for $9.11 on the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Tumbledown Trails Golf Course in Wisconsin advertised the special with an ad yesterday saying it was meant to commemorate the 12th anniversary of the attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people. (See the ad, complete with exclamation points, here.) News of the special spread on social media, and the golf course's Facebook page was overrun with negative comments.

The golf course has since apologized on Facebook and said it may close Sept. 11 out of concerns for the safety of its staff: People are calling the club with death threats, according to owner Marc Watts.

There's a segment of the population who literally believe 9/11 should be a religious holiday.

Irony of that is that it really SHOULD be a religious holiday, but not for the reasons they think, or anything to do with Chimp, PNAC, or the mostly fictional Al Qaeda.

To me it is. It should be $9.11 for all 18, not $19.11 for 18. That's just dumb.

Actually, it's just bad math. 18 holes should be $18.22.... or logically there should be some discount if you paid for a full 18 holes.

Perhaps $17.76 would have been a better price if they were trying to appear "patriotic" with this bullshit. Instead the dumbasses actually charge MORE than double for the full 18, just so they could get the number "9 11" in there.

Marketing mess-up: People furious with AT&T’s ‘tacky’ attempt to honor 9/11 victims

AT&T tried to honor those affected by the 9/11 tragedy today with a photo, but it doesn’t look like it was a great marketing move thus far.

The mobile carrier just tweeted out the photo to the right with the Manhattan skyline at night and the words “Never Forget.” Someone is holding a smartphone with an image of the “Tribute in Light” from the National September 11 Memorial that fills out the actual photo itself.

People aren’t exactly supportive of the image, as you can see here.
