It's amazing, isn't it? Back in the seventies and early eighties you could see a show with three bands on the bill for the unbelievable price of $3.50. You have wonder how anybody involved with the gigs made money.

They ran around all night and put on a rock show...now they stand there under a huge screen, barely moving, and charge you 10 times as much..

17 and change.. what a great age to experience a show like that. Growing up living literally a 15 minute walk from Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Long Island we went to ALOT of concerts and my best memories was everything leading up to the concert. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Now back to the asshole parents on my youngest son's travel baseball team...

And the biggest fans ended up in the front rows, not the people that pay most to the scalpers.

Flip side is that back then albums and videos cost money...

Not to belittle your adventure but the first time I saw Van Halen they were really in their prime. April 1979 at the California World Music Festival. It was their second tour but first as a headliner. They co headlined that day with Aerosmith I believe. No props, no line dancing just kick ass rock and roll. I don't remember much because it was the second night of a two day rock and roll show but I do remember I enjoyed their performance.
