    Stooges Drummer Scott Asheton Dies

    From AllMusic.com:

Just about every drummer in a punk band in the 1970s modeled their playing after the simplistic yet hard-hitting style of the Stooges' Scott Asheton.

Now, I can't agree with that.

    Anyhoo, R.I.P. Scott.

What the fuck do you mean, "who"??

You never heard of the Stooges?

(And no, I don't mean Moe, Larry, and Curly)

      Rest in peace, Scott

I saw Iggy & the Stooges twice, once in Colmar (Alsace) in August 2005 - in the middle of the wine festival, what a blast - and in Nyon (Switzerland) in July 2011.
They're one of my fave bands ever, because of "Funhouse" (1970) and "raw Power" (1973). Iggy was cool enough to gather the band together in 2003 with the Asheton brothers to tour and play the first two albums (Ron Asheton didn't want to hear about "Raw Power" where James Williamson took over on guitar. After Ron died in 2009 he called back Williamson, who was then Sony Music's number 2... Iggy can really persuade anybody.

Now without Scott Asheton on drums they should call themselves Pop & Williamson or some other name alike...

Anyway, R.I.P. Mr Scott Asheton. Get a hell of a jam session out there with Ron on guitar and Dave Alexander on bass. Maybe take Lee Brilleaux from Dr Feelgood on vocals.

"Raw Power", if only it had originally been mixed as it should, could have been the ultimate rock album.

It's saturated with energy, balls and filth. You can't rock harder, more furiously than that.

I know The Stooges were a main inspiration to the guys in The Ramones. The Stooges probably were the world's first punk rock band.

There is a good argument to say that's true

Well, the MC5 would probably argue that. They started about the same time.

I'd probably vote for the Sonics. Who were in Tacoma WA long before the NBA team of the same name was in Seattle.
