The Republicans didn't beat the Democrats. The Democrats forfeited due to their corruption and failure to listen to the American people. They had an agenda and they ruthlessly rammed it through without regard of what the American people wanted.

The lesson to be learned and the Republicans need to take heed is if you continue to ignore the will of the American people well, they eventually will turn on you.
