    Se habla sexually assaulting 13-year-old

WILDWOOD – A city man was charged this week with sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl.

Juan Nieves-Barrios, 26, a restaurant dishwasher who lives on the 100 block of East Andrews Avenue, was charged with aggravated sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

Police said Nieves-Barrios is an undocumented immigrant from Mexico.

Police said the offense was a crime of opportunity. He met the girl in the city, police said.

Police took a report from the victim on Monday and executed a search warrant at the home of Nieves-Barrio, where police said they found evidence linking him to the crime.

Nieves-Barrio was lodged Tuesday at the Cape May County jail on $175,000 bail set by state Superior Court Judge John C. Porto.

That's the local shooting from last summer.

      From the local paper:

"Ramirez, a Mexican citizen who does not have lawful permanent residence in the United States, had no prior criminal record in America or Mexico, Lake County Public Defender Charles Grieshammer said.

A Spanish-speaking psychologist found that Ramirez — who has a second-grade education — suffers from schizophrenia and social anxiety, and is on the autism spectrum.

However, the psychologist still found Ramirez was competent to stand trial."
