A great QB? He was injured more than he played. He won what, 2 playoff games? I guess after Staubach and Aikman, Cowgirl fan has had to settle for low expectations. :D

The problem with calling him "great" is that he never got near one...

And they don't give awards for having beards... :)

As long as the broadcast revenues remain consistently lucrative, things like Super Bowl victories - or even the number of asses in seats at the stadium, when it comes down to it - are secondary at best to the owners.

I think the Cowboys franchise is the highest earner in the NFL, and has been for quite some time now.

As to Romo not being able to close the deal post-season...yeah, he never really was in that top echelon. His name recognition factor was always a bit higher than his talent level.

Clearly, if the Cowboys want to win the big one, they needed to make a change with their starting quarterback. Much like Sanchez with the Jets, there comes a point where you have to admit that what you have isn't working if competing and winning in the post-season is your goal.

Sadly, it often takes the management more than a few seasons to come to that realization. Probably because coming to that realization entails admitting at some fundamental level the choice of the player was a flawed decision from the get-go, and most people (much less corporation owners) don't like to admit their reasoning was wrong: "it's a sign of weakness" or some such macho blather. So they keep throwing away good money after bad to try and slam that square peg into that round hole.

I don't think Romo overall was a terrible QB. He just wasn't a closer.

The Sanchez comparison is perfect. Is Sanchez considered a "great" QB? Because he had much greater success than Rhomo.

I seriously doubt he banged Carrie Underwood, and if he did, he lost out to a real athlete. A hockey player!

Homely Homo was not a "great QB" not even close. The man was an injury-prone liability who knew how to suck Jerry Jones dick for all the nickels falling out of his deep pockets. Homely homo never took his team to the playoffs (maybe once) never won a conference game and never really was considered to be reliable on the field. The only smart shit he did in his miserable life was to dump Jessica Simpson's gold digging ass when it became F A T T E R then his own ego.

Honestly, it's not a career to be ashamed of.

I mean, people calling him a "gimpy, post-season, non-closing choke artist" really aren't taking into account the totality of his career-length statistics.

Actually his feelings were hurt by Deon Sanders.

Still a great broadcaster though...

Reminds me of the Romo meme I can never find; "Really good at dissecting plays in the broadcast booth, too bad I couldn't do that on the field"

The pay is fucking nuts, but Romo is the best color analyst I've ever seen in an NFL booth. He makes past QB-turned-broadcasters like Joe Theismann look like retards...
