Reader inquiry: Which Van Halen is best?

Follow the StarTribune for the news, photos and videos from the Twin Cities and beyond.

In other news, did you know that the tour "is selling out all over the country?" And that the current lineup "is the band's second, and superior, lineup, affectionately known as Van Hagar?"

Sorry, the first time I pulled up that Star Tribune story I was able to read it, now it asks for registration.

I live in Michigan and wrote the dude who wrote the Flint article.

      Van Hagar superior?

Just letting him know ... and he hasn't seen them yet this tour, so how does he know?

      He doesn't apparently.

The article is crap. It's one thing to give his opinion that he likes Hagar better, but it's complete bullshit to talk about sellouts all over the country. 25,000 at Joe Louis Arena? I'd be interested in the real numbers.

"They have a new, 36-song hits compilation, "The Best of Both Worlds," due in stores July 20. It features three newly recorded songs, including the single, "It's About Time," and three live tracks from David Lee Roth's days with the band. "

I think that ruins his credibility right there. They're not including three live tracks from DLR's days with the band. They're Dave-era songs with Sammy singing. Doesn't make the writer look all that good.
"To keep up with me, you must be fast. To sing like me, you must be great. To beat me? You must be kidding!"
