In many other countries when Fox/Murdoch start broadcasting made up shit there are at least some safeguards in place from regulators that stop some of the very worst excesses.

Part of the reason the UK has still followed the US down this sewer of false populism is there is still a relatively high 'newspaper' readership and so the Murdoch types (there are about 4 or 5) own all of them and spread the shit that way instead.

It's what allowed all the media consolidation in the first place, and the very existence of FAUX "News" and the Sinclair Media company which would eventually buy up local TV & radio stations all over the country to spew their propaganda, even in cities like Seattle & Portland where the majority of the population is definitely NOT right wing conservatives.
