So I was listening to the latest The DLR Cast (https://thedlrcast.podbean.com/) and they mentioned this song which I think we maybe missed, that a guy called Dave Vincent had put on YouTube and they mistook it for me because they thought I was also called Dave. I'm not but whatever. :D

Anyhoo here it is - if I missed it and it's been posted already sorry, I'm going to blame COVID or the shitty search feature on our board software or something...

First aired on the Roth Show in 2016 but feels like it's from early 2000s...

Interesting - has everyone heard Dave's 'disco' version of Honeybabysweetydoll? I remembering ripping it from a Roth Show or maybe Youtube when it ran with moving images of a speeded up journey through Manhattan.

I remember wondering at the time if that tune had existed as a DLR song in that sort of dance music form first ... then they just bolted on the VH music for 'A Different Kind of Truth'. Same lyrics, but sung more of a whisper than the full bloodied vocal on ADKOT.

Have to say I like the VH version better. Disco never did a thing for me.

that's the one.

I've got to say - and I know I will be in the minority here! - I prefer this to the ADKOT version. In terms of the Dave performance, anyway.

Musically, the VH version has it's own heft which is impressive on its own, but the Dave contribution I think fits better with this than with the heavy VH track.

Hot Rod was a decent enough dance groove. Same with the Honey dance remix. In both cases, I actually enjoyed the music more than what Roth was doing vocally.

That Honey youtube video...yeesh. Smack in what looks to be that ADKOT overall clad period, complete with those Funky Chicken dance moves. Give that one a miss.

Always liked those two chicks Roth had onstage in that 1995/early 1996 Vegas stint. Looked like they'd be up for some shenanigans.
