via Blabbermouth:

Backbeat Books has set a January 1, 2024 release date for "DLR Book: How David Lee Roth Changed The World" by Darren Paltrowitz.

Book description: What do you do after leaving one of the world's biggest bands? If you're David Lee Roth, you write a memoir, become a radio host, sell a screenplay to a major studio, get certified as an EMT, play Vegas, become a certified helicopter pilot, put out bluegrass versions of your biggest hits, and learn a few languages. And then you rejoin VAN HALEN for a reunion tour.

Encompassing the highs and lows of a truly unusual career, "DLR Book" is an intimate look at the force of nature that is David Lee Roth, from his start with VAN HALEN to his highly publicized departure from the band and his triumphant return. Drawing on nearly one hundred exclusive interviews, author Darren Paltrowitz delves into Diamond Dave's many extracurricular activities, including his unclassifiable video series "The Roth Show", the rise and fall of his syndicated radio program, and his line of tattoo skincare products. Included are conversations with some of Roth's most popular collaborators (among them Steve Vai, Billy Sheehan, Gregg Bissonette, Travis Tritt, John 5 and KORN's Ray Luzier) and contributions from figures influenced by Roth, including Jason Aldean, Billy Corgan, Butch Vig and legendary sumo wrestler Konishiki.

Filled with photographs never published in book form — including exclusive photography from LIT bassist Kevin Baldes — and an introduction by WWE Hall Of Fame inductee Diamond Dallas Page, "DLR Book" is not simply the first book about Roth to be published in several decades. It's a front-row seat to one of the wildest and most unpredictable artists of all time.

In my case, "old" means easier to read on the iPad because I can magnify the text :D

Easier to read in bed in the dark, too

Everyone in the Eat Em and Smile band speak highly of David Lee Roth. I think Dave and Eddie butted heads because they were complete opposites. Dave is half mad like all great artists are.

The book is excellent especially on parts of the Roth solo years that aren't well documented elsewhere. It's also very accurate and you will learn new stuff.

Von and I talked with the author for 2 1/2 hours tonight and with be posting a feature soon.

It would be hilarious and a huge internet hit but that's not the current plan.

AUTHOR AND COMEDIAN BOBBY SLAYTON,
OCTOBER 30, 2021, INTERVIEW

I have nothing to say about David Lee Roth

I thought the book was quite decent. Few big takeaways.

Definitively places what songs were ready to go in 2000. 4 or so ADKOT cuts that probably would’ve sounded more like VH because, well, you know.

I actually feel like I have a better understanding of what Dave was going for with No Holds Barbecue. Sadly, it never had a chance of coming together as initially intended. Probably why it had zero marketing and was only available on VHS at a few t-shirt stands.

Dave’s no bs approach towards his band rehearsals, exclusively towards the pre-Covid Vegas run was pretty fascinating.

The author is a private investigator, so he did a fairly decent job of digging deep. That said, I’m pretty sure Dave is not a fan of this book.

Maybe that will be the subject of Dave's next video. "This fuckin' writer!"

BBQ was a mess primarily because the vision needed 5x the budget. Simply did not have the money to execute and did what they could on the fly making decisions. A disjointed mess that missed the thread to hold it all together. Vision and budget were out of sync

It was good fun, a lot of comparing of notes. We are working on how best to transcript hours of chat.
