Ed is making a fool of himself. No wonder Val left!

Laidlaw sounds like Lynrd Skynrd pooped out a (2nd rate post-Steve) Def Leppard.

    What a bunch of junk!

I hope you suckers enjoyed contributing to the Van Sisters beer/cigarette/divorce charity fund.

Wouldnt you agree that most concerts you go to are doing pretty much the same thing? You are not paying to see them because you support their lifestyle, you are paying to hear the music

No, I have seen hundreds of shows and many of them have been great. When you are a performer and you invite people to spend money on a live show (or greatest hits discs for that matter) you owe those "customers" a certain amount of quality.

So to expect the "greatest guitarist of all time" to be able to play the fucking songs that he not only wrote, but played hundreds of time on tour, is not too much to ask. How may times has Ed played Unchained? Why can’t he play it? Eruption? Cathedral? What the fuck?

This tour is bullshit. Van Halen is one of my favorite things in the whole world and I am not happy about the state of things. Ed has let us all down.

Edward Van Halen has a responsibility to the fans that have paid for his lifestyle for the past 25 years.

If they were out with Dave- I would be just as pissed if I saw Ed play like this.

Ed should be in a nursing home.

Van Hagar apologists can eat my ass!

I'm with you Kennyboy. I saw the show, too. But, there are many people on this site who think Ed is still playing great. Some have posted clips of Ed tapping Eruption well. But, there were far too many screw up and parts forgotten by Ed to warrant a $100 ticket price. That's what makes this tour seem like they only did it for the money.

Kennyboy ! That was magic, man. You summed it up perfectly..
Imagine if this was "The Reunion" and Ed was fucking up all the classics. That would suck more than anything. Gives more creedence
to the theory that Dave didnt want it, because Ed wasnt up to it..

Hey ! Who am I to stand in the way of a good conspiracy

I doubt this too. Although Dave made it public that Ed needed an
intervention, what, just 12 months ago ????

From what I've read about the shows, it's kinda like people goin' to see their old alcoholic uncle. He's STILL a FUCK-UP, but at least he's still ALIVE. JUST BARELY.

I love Eddie's quote after the failed reunion: "The Dave of 1996 is NOT the Dave of 1984." Well, no shit. How about the Ed of 2004 is nowhere near as good as the Ed of even 1996?

see i know you think im wrong but i really think ed is changing things up on the tour. i went to a show, heard some boots, and seen some boots floating around and i dont mind his playing. im not a big technical guitar guy or anything but to me it sounds like he is just interpreting and trying things and not playing them note for note. i never heard any real noticeable screwups on his part

Eddie was uncharacteristically sloppy as he filled the evening with late leads, curious solos and more than a few serious missteps.

Going into the show, we all knew that this was not the Van Halen reunion tour that most fans wanted. They were salivating about the possibility of seeing the original band with vocalist David Lee Roth. But egos seemingly got in the way of that happening and we were left with a reformed Van Halen II with Sammy Hagar.

Dressed in a skull cap, dark sunglasses and a matching yellow top and pants, the energetic vocalist reminded one of a clown at a circus as he moved about the stage without any real sense of purpose.

He simply played like his mind was somewhere else.

Is that his excuse for poor playing? He's noodling? He's experimenting?

I don't believe that Eddie sounded bad, When i saw them in June he sounded great! The only way he can be seen as a fool is by still smokin. What a dope when you get half your tongue removed you think he'd get the hint to quit. I guess eddie is planning on looking like the next Keith Richards?
