You can read a TON of interviews where the SISTERS complained that DAVE was difficult to work and live with out on the road and in the studio. A "CONTROL FREAK" who dominated the decision making for the band. Mikey coplained that DAVE used to bitch about the clothes he wore to photo shoots, EVH hated his control over the music.
And in the JAN 2004 CLASSIC ROCK interview, DAVE stated the reason the guys hated him was he was the "BOSS". Very demanding and in charge.
So, it leads one to a logical question.....WHO THE FUCK HAS BEEN CALLING THE SHOTS SINCE DAVE LEFT? Who was responsible for picking Spammy Hagar after DAVE left? Who pushed to have the band turn in a more commercial (JOURNEYFIED) direction? Terrible looking stages, terrible merchandise, terrible stage clothes...to say NOTHING about the TERRIBLE MUSIC that became COMMON PLACE.
If DAVE was SO BAD, how come the DAVE era outsold the "HAPPY" Spammy ear 3-1? If Noel Monk was SO TERRIBLE a manager, how come EVH has now bad mouthed the late Ed lefner? VHIII? Hmmmm...
It just seems strange to have wanted to take "CONTROL" himself, and then having come up short, EVH would have the HONESTY AND BALLS to admit that they NEVER HAD IT SO GOOD as when DAVID LEE ROTH was at THE HELM.
