I'm thinking of a career change, as the Bush economy has suddenly forced me to have to begin looking for work...

...anybody out there really like what they do?

I have a B.S.in Marketing/Advertising, but have been doing Internet/Network Integration Sales for the last 6 years...

...wondering if there are any really cool careers/jobs that I'm overlooking or not aware of?

Also, anyone know of any job openings in the San Jose CA area?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!:)

How about, Start Your Own Business in this Import-Based Economy

Blaming any President for shit you failed to make corrective career offset decisions over makes you look perty fuckin' Stupid over.

1. Did you fill out a job app or Intern Resume with the White House?

2. Have you done any research, been a consultant to, or provided detailed job data or economic prosperity forecasts for the Bush family recently?

3. Has Bush asked you for one word of advisement, otherwise, regarding changes he could or should have made towards the economy or your job choice focus?

4. Did Bush tell you to pick Netork Marketing or provide data of an upward-sloping curve of predicated performance - causing you to make such a choice SWAMPED WITH A MILLION OTHER GEEKS and therefore sink in a saturated market with little-left demand for services?

You like so many others might consider what you do a high art, but when the plumber comes to unplug your toilet you stopped up with your very large pizza-crust firing ass for a $125 housecall, you'll wish you paid more attention to the physical world than the www net stuff thingy there.

PLUMBING - CHOOSE PLUMBING YOU WILL NEVER BE OUT OF WORK OR MONEY MOTHERFUCKER

And don't over look the PR jobs. PR and marketing teach similar things. You could easily transfer knowledge from one to the other.

Lotta people saying that, but no one naming what it is they do that they love so much, which was kinda the whole purpose of this thread. Not to go after someones job, but to get an idea of what kind of careers out there are enjoyable... ...and GAR, I did plenty of plumbing back when I did apartment maintenance during school... ...and you can HAVE it! I hated it...

I'll take any job, as long as it pays decent (I am contentl with $20,000 a year), involves work with hazardous and explosive materials and includes very little paperwork. Right now I'm an Aviation Ordnanceman in the USMC. I don't know if I'll make this a career; seeing that I've been a Corporal for over 3 years! So the next best thing for me to do would be to become an electrician.

I just the better part of an afternoon talking a mouth-breathing bimbette secretary through a Unix command line session that culminated in creating a crontab entry using the vi editor. (Because no-one else was available to do it)

All the while, I am going over tens of thousands of lines of code across three operating systems and two hardware platforms trying to find the cause of a non-reproducable bug.

I fucking loath my job.

If McDonalds paid the same, I'd be there in a heartbeat.

No shit. I hear ya there. I should have too. I made quite a few of my own porn movies with chicks that I could probably still sell, but the chicks would kill me if I did, and I have to get their permission. Ah, at least I've got the memories... ...on TAPE!! :D

you need a designing degree or to simply be an architect, and yes you can make a lot of money if you work with the right people...or if you have a good formula and your hooked up at every level of the process.

you meant $200, ooo right?! You cant possibly be paid well for handling explosive material and hazardous waste at 20k? Even if that is American ca-ching! My nephew just left town for a similar job in Sarnia Ont. Cleans out mines, and eliminates asbestos for $2000 a week. They pay food and lodge, you work 10 hours a day and its contracted 7 months on then 5 months off.
Needless to say he's happy as shit on a stick.

ask for a raise.

Keeyth,

with this kind of studies you should be making all kinds of cash!
especially in cali.
are you working now?

$$$$$$$ 6 digits is the goal!

Keeyth
09-07-2005, 11:24 AM
Yeah, I am, and I make pretty good money now too.

I actually have a way better job now than I had when I started this thread, so I can't complain anymore. Now it's just kind of an exploratory thing to find out what other kinds of careers are out there.

I still wouldn't say it's a job I love to do, and I am always envious of those who have jobs they actually love doing. Maybe I'm just allergic to work. I have always been a good time kind of guy, so maybe it's just work that I don't like.:D

But I would love to have a job that is actually fun to do...

P.S. You'd be surprised at how many guys in Cali with my same degree only make about 50K a year. I've worked with a lot of them, and it just sucks to be so underpaid with a degree like that. At the time I started this thread I was working in that kind of an office...

...thankfully, I've found much better now, but it would shock you how many are working for that.

franksters
09-08-2005, 01:58 PM
than you gotta move, where they need you, or where it's less expensive to live, that way you will get either more money or more for it, just an idea.

Keeyth
09-08-2005, 02:14 PM
Yeah, well Cali is getting too expensive to live in period. I keep thinking it will change for the better, at least a bit, but it's just getting out of hand...
