John Mayall Buys Himself A Farm

Limey blues legend John Mayall kicked the bucket and up and fucking died on the 22nd of July.

British guitarist and Bluesbreakers leader John Mayall has died. Mayall’s family announced the news on his official social media accounts, stating that the musician died in his California home on Monday, July 22, “surrounded by loving family.” The statement cited unspecified health issues, but did not reveal an exact cause of death. John Mayall was 90 years old.

Dubbed “the Godfather of British Blues,” John Mayall was a nurturing figure to a slew of musicians at the start of their careers. Mayall formed the Bluesbreakers in the early 1960s after moving to London, and the band’s shifting lineup included a post-Yardbirds, pre-Cream Eric Clapton, who recorded with Mayall on the highly influential 1966 LP Blues Breakers With Eric Clapton. When Clapton left to start Cream, he was replaced by eventual Fleetwood Mac guitarist Peter Green and Mick Taylor, who was ultimately snatched up by the Rolling Stones.

Unlike say, most...okay, ALL limey filth that destroyed American music by stealing it like the pirates they are Mayall stayed true to his love of "da blooz" so much so that he annoyed the shit out of anyone who had the misfortune of ever having to listen to it. Mayall never really achieved any huge commercial success simply because he voice was weak, his guitar playing skills shitty and he wrote really stupid sexist songs when not borrowing from other singer songwriters who for the most part weren't really into "da blooz" Mayall did have a talent for finding people he could steal with like that anti-vaxxer cocksucker Clapton and that wife beater John McVie. He did find Mick Taylor of the Taylor Swift cult and Taylor became a Stone and then a drug addict and now Taylor looks lumpy all thanks to John Mayall.

    Here's an total asshole grieving

    R.I.P. John.

    Ugh.

I can only imagine the outpouring of boomer sentiment when Clapton passes away. Personally, when that news arrives, I'll shrug and go about my business.

Clapton and Ghrol. Since those two attract nothing but death from their fellow band mates they should form a band of just the two of them

Anyone can go at any time. How some dumb people live so long is amazing.

No! You can't have the keys to the wine cellar!

What I find smarmily irksome is how virtually all the various media outlets frame the passing of celebrities by way of description, regardless of the particulars.

Some outlet somewhere said something about Mayalls "tragic" death...it's like, the dude made it to 90 years old. Died surrounded by his family. Doesn't sound THAT "tragic" to me.

Or what I read about...who the fuck was it...oh, yeah, Betty White. When she died, some outlet said "America is grieving"...like, fuck off. I wasn't grieving her loss. I didn't wish any ill will toward her, but I didn't know the woman.

I still like the albums with Mick Taylor on guitar, "Crusade", "Blues from Laurel Canyon", "Bare Wires", and the 1982 Reunion Concert, that's really good stuff IMO.
Mayall had that peculiar tone of voice that you either like or hate.
