    Aerosmith retires

Although Steven Tyler looks like my grandmother, it's a sad day for rock fans.
    Apparently they've retired from touring.

He sounded alright with the Black Crowes in May, but looks like his vocal injury was quite serious.
It's pretty cruel because he was one of the few guys who still sounded good from that era.

I suppose it must be true re: retirement, since the band were all ready to go ahead with a 'farewell tour' (and the sold-out dates and higher ticket prices that would have accompanied that) that was first postponed and now it appears indefinitely shelved.

A shame, I suppose, because they were one of the few name rock acts from way back when who still had the original/definitive lineup. I can't say as to how they've sounded in the last 20 years or so, but I do recall seeing them perform live on tv for some function in the early 2000's and they still sounded really good live.

Can't say it was a particular shock, though. The guys in that band have to be...what? In their seventies? Closing in on eighty?
