    So...this Oasis thing...

    Meh?

I've seen speculation of a US tour, and the list looks a lot like the one IORR uses a year in advance of Stones tours. Some fansite is showing stadium dates in the US, with a second date listed "as needed." Oasis wasn't big enough here to play stadiums. Maybe LA and NYC. That's a basketball arena tour.

Of course there is also speculation that the tour is cancelled before it even starts...

I'd like to see them but they already are running into controversy over the "dynamic pricing (i.e. anal rape)". It's not fully their fault but there are calls to reign in their promoter cunts potentially alienating real fans and turning these events into jerkoff corporate fests like many sporting events are now...

Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy vowed the inflated prices of tickets for the band's reunion would form part of a Government review of the secondary gig sales market.

I never could stand seeing or hearing those guys. It was good news for me when they eventually punched each other's faces.

I would be very surprised if the Gallaghers could get through the tour without killing each other. I bought one Oasis album and haven't listened to it in years, so I'm not all that interested in an overpriced reunion tour.

I thought this was funny, in Rolling Stone: (bold mine)

The strategy helps keep ticket prices lower, but also makes it much harder for fans to get tickets if they missed out during a general on-sale. Zach Bryan, for example, restricted resale for his Burn, Burn, Burn tour last year, and while he said it was a success at keeping prices lower, his social media feeds ended up flooded with fans angered that they had no way to get tickets after the sellout.
um...that's what sold out means, stupid!

Oasis said that tickets resold outside of their fan-to-fan exchange will be canceled, with the band trying to limit gouging from scalpers.

The reason people are extra pissed off about this is that tickets were advertised as starting at ?150 ($200) for a stadium ticket but when you went to buy them on Saturday when they went on sale most people were put in a queue on Ticketbastard for the ticket queue. Tnen after about 3 or 4 hours you might get onto the queue and then a total of 6 hours of sitting in on a Saturday when you got to the front of the queue. You then got a message telling you the tickets had doubled or trebled in price.

If you have waited all that time and then you get a very short window it makes people just pay it.

I'm trying to avoid Oasis news which is everywhere here at the moment but I did see someone pointing out the artist gets to choose whether to switch on the dynamic pricing option - Taylor Swift chose not to apparently.

The Gallagher brothers started out as house burglars breaking into peoples homes, then realized that stealing songs made more money. I don't know why anyone would be surprised at them scamming their fans in this way. They are horrific people especially the whining singer.

If the demand is so high just do more dates then - greedy lazy fucks.

It's a weak excuse but the one that Uber use for their peak pricing thing is that it encourages more drivers to work when and where they are needed - when Ticketmaster do it the stadia don't get bigger!

I'm saying this as someone who wouldn't open the fucking curtains if they were playing in my back yard. Even if you like their rehashed sub Beatles/Ruttles/Cocoa Cola advert shit, no one could describe them as an exciting act to watch live. On a video screen in a stadium. I would literally want about the same money as they are charging to sit through it.

Most recent year I can find stats for is 2021 and it could be due to Trump/COVID but that year 33 000 Americans moved to the UK and 20 000 British moved to the US.

I don't even know as Oasis were all THAT big in the US, even back in the mid/late 1990's. They had basically 2 hit songs and then imploded.

Tend to doubt Oasis is going to be selling out stadiums in America circa 2025 solely on the strength of their name.

I think they were pretty big, I recall them being "the guys" here for a while in the rock sphere. They had more than 2 hits but yeah began to fizzle a bit by the early 2000's. "Wonderwall" is probably their biggest US hit but even the ones preceding here that were missed like "Supersonic" were still popular after the album "Morning Glory" was released...
