My big 3 favorite bands have always been Van Halen, Rush and Ozzy. Over the years it's only Rush that haven't gone down a lot in my estimation as people but the music remains.

My big 3 favorite bands have always been Van Halen, Rush and Ozzy. Over the years it's only Rush that haven't gone down a lot in my estimation as people but the music remains.

Out of the three, Rush were really the only band where there was improvement after a member from the original lineup was replaced. Certainly, in terms of creative/studio output, the stuff Rush was releasing toward the end of their career stood alongside the stuff they were putting out in their heyday (unlike, say, Ozzy's post No More Tears stuff).

Also, when Rush finally packed it in as a live act, they did so on their terms and while they were still able to perform about as well as they ever did as a live act. In other words, they went out on top with class. Unlike Ozzy, who has been doddering around like a befuddled geezer onstage for twenty years. Or Roth, who was performing adequately for his age on the last two Van Halen Mach 4 tours but obviously (and understandably) nowhere near the level he was even in 2007, much less in the 1980's.

Yep, Rush exited the stage with their heads justifiably held high. I gather there is talk about Geddy and Alex going back out billed as Rush with a new drummer. Hopefully they don't. Rush is Lee, Alex and Peart.
