Extreme are one of my favourite bands. I saw Nuno live last year and also met him. He came across as a really nice guy. He used one of my guitar picks during "Get The Funk Out." He gets people out of the crowd to jam on that song. I was next in line, but he took the pick instead. At least I would have played it in the right KEY! The last guy was playing in the wrong key and Nuno was on the side of the stage trying to tell him which key to play in, LOL!

Great show, though. The solo CDs are hard to get, so I don't have any of them yet, but the music isn't all that much like Extreme. It's just fairly mature hard rock. I had a blast. Of course, the Extreme stuff was the coolest to hear live. I asked him when I met him beforehand to play "Decadence Dance" and he just said they'd do a lot of Extreme. I kept on yelling for it and eventually got a VERY short tease of it (literally about 3 seconds, lol). "Play With Me" ROCKED, and he did an awesome version of "Midnight Express." He had the crowd sing "More Than Words."

They get bashed a lot on VH related sites because so many people hate VH3. I like it. Extreme were a cut above the more generic hair metal bands. They had a definite funk element to their music. The first album was hair metal. It's the one I listen to the least (and I do enjoy quite a lot of hair metal bands). Porno was kinda funky hair metal, but it still had that "big" hair metal sound to it. Still, it was MUCH more mature than the first album. I actually listen to their last two albums the most. Waiting For The Punchline is very underrated, IMO. III Sides is also cool. "Warheads" rocks.

Anyway, I'd love to see them live, but I highly doubt they'd bring the show to Australia. Hell, even when they came in 1992 or 1993 or so they played a pretty small venue. Japan is probably the only place where they could draw more than a couple of thousand people.

Oh, and, yeah, I love the Tribe Of Judah album too. Complex stuff, but it's a great listen.

There is MUCH more to Extreme than "More Than Words." Of course people were going to return that album if they were expecting more songs like MTW. The opening cut is "Decadence Dance," which rocks HARD. Artistically, maybe they wish they had never recorded MTW, but financially I'm sure they're glad they did (Gary and Nuno, anyway...)

I guess Gary's appearance in The Vagina Monologues is finally over.
