Ok I was wrong: "Reign in Blood" was released in '86.

Looking back at the list, 1983 was a rather great metallic year.

Definitely Dokken. Mr. Scary is the greatest guitar player other than Randy Rhoads or Jason Becker

I voted for Def Leppard, but I think Slayer's first album dates back from that year. I would have voted for "Reign in Blood" if I had been sure.
There were very good tracks on "Pyromania", many of their best riffs are there. Too bad there are those bloody synths, and Elliott's voice is sometimes unbearable IMO.

Well, SLAYER ~ Reign in Blood

This one is really hard for me. Selecting between Holy Diver and Piece of Mind. Piece of Mind is a really great Maiden album......as well as Holy Diver. I just pick Holy Diver because Maiden made a lot of other top choice album while Holy Diver is Dios best (at least for must people)

    Maiden...tough choices for that year.

I would say I listened to Pyromania the most...but Piece of mind was a benchmark.

    Piece of Mind.

The whole album rocks from start to finish, no filler. My favorite Maiden album of all time.

Trooper wore out on me pretty quickly, today I can't stand listening to it anymore.

    Grate album, though, wonderful...

There was just so much good shit that going on in the metal community in the '80's, a lot of these don't really have any one answer...
