Apparently "The Last of Us" is based on a video game, which I have never seen. So the gamers weren't surprised for the "shocking" end to the 2nd episode of the season.

I was less suprised by the death of a main character, and more by the fact that it was done by Tim Allen's youngest daughter from his failed sitcom, and not by a mushroom zombie.

I don't disagree, but one of their 50 Star Wars series has to be good despite themselves. Letting Tony Gilroy do his thing was a rare non-misstep by Dizzenying....
