Conservatives don't care if one is gay or not... if that aspect is the primary reason someone gets a job then by all means they don't deserve the job. If the "gay guy" is a highly qualified financial professional it doesn't matter... if he's a former employee of Soros' outfit and was successful it doesn't matter to conservatives. He actually holds the skills and experience to do the job... that's what truly matters.

You may want to get out more and meet/interact with some regular people rather than living in whatever inter-web space that's influencing your perceptions... the only folks obsessed with everything LGBTQ+ are liberals and progressives who want to elevate the sexual identity of less than 10% of the population excessively, where the other 90% don't give a shit who they love or what identity they choose to think they are.

Consider something the next time you see a full size pickup truck with a lift kit and oversized off-road tires... do you know how much those trucks and the aftermarket equipment costs... call them idiots but they have to smart enough to afford around $100k worth of truck and add-ons. Labor unions... especially in the trades are some of the hardest working, down to earth people you'll ever meet. Most of the rank and file are conservative to the core.
