When I saw that last week I suddenly realized that the Joe Rogan podcast is basically just like the BBC comedy character Philomena Cunk who does interviews with scientists and intellectuals except that for some reason people (including Joe) actually take him seriously.

Meh.
I like the Joe Rogan Podcast, albeit in a take it or leave it way.
For however many podcast episodes he's done for however long it's been on now in terms of years, I've watched perhaps ...a dozen from start-to-finish.
The ones I've seen in total that stand out in my mind are the most recent one he did with Elon Musk, along with the one he did with Trump last fall. I've seen not the most recent one he did with Douglas Murray but the couple he did with Murray before. I found comedian Tim Dillon via Rogan's podcast and find Dillon to be amusing.
Most of the invectives hurled Rogan's way from legacy media types such as Jon Stewart, CNN and the like are probably coming from a place of professional jealousy, to be frank about it, as those traditional tv/cable outlets have ever aging audiences and ever declining viewership numbers.
I'm a bit too old myself to be a Rogan fanboi or take whatever comes out of Rogan's mouth as Holy Gospel. But I enjoy the podcast. I enjoy the format of it, where it's basically/usually just Rogan and whoever he has on facing each other and talking for two or three hours.
I mean, take the Trump interview. Trump came into Rogan's studio last fall just before the election, sat down with Rogan and talked for ...three hours. Unscripted. 50 million views. Why the fuck didn't Kamala Harris accept Rogan's invite to do the same?Scramby eggs and bacon.Comment

How does that NOT make him the MAINSTREAM then?
How is fucking CNN with 1% of the audience still considered MAINSTREAN compared to Joe Cunk?
It's bullshit. Replace the word Mainstream with trained or professional.
Secondly 3 hours unscripted he didn't ask him a single difficult question.. Jesus has there ever been a single person in the history of US culture that had so many questions that needed answered and Joe just sat there for 3 hours soft balling him.
It was a fucking simpering joke not a political interview to allow voters to make decisions and that's why Trump did it.
Sorry I'm pretty surprised at your naivety on this.

Joe Rogaine is losing ground to anti-trump MeidasTouch podcast, because people are tired of dumb fucking shill jocks who latch themselves to trumps saggy, small balls like ticks:
The MeidasTouch Podcast is one of the few left-leaning video podcasts topping YouTube's rankings, and it has even, at times, dethroned Rogan's coveted No. 1 position on the platform's podcast charts. That's prompted some to wonder whether Meiselas will become the Rogan of the left, a question he has tired of but answers anyway.
"People wanted me to be that," he said. "I think we need the opposite of Joe Rogan."Last edited by Nickdfresh; 08-16-2025, 10:11 AM.Comment

Oh, yeah, Trump was basically spouting his usual stream-of-consciousness babble for 3 hours. I'm certainly not naive about that.

It had less to do with the content and more to do with Trump simply showing up.
Meanwhile, Harris could barely get through a 15-minute interview with Anderson Cooper, who was lobbing plenty of slow fast balls right at the center of the plate for her to knock out of the park: when Cooper DID manage to ask one mildly critical question about the Biden/Harris approach to immigration circa 2020-2024, she immediately pivoted to Trump and gave such an evasive, chickenshit non-answer that she may as well not have bothered. Keeping all that in mind, imagine if Harris had sat for 2 or 3 hours with Rogan, and proffered long, substantive answers to whatever Rogan asked. And then imagine both the Trump and Harris interviews being released simultaneously and the contrast between Trump's babble and Harris giving lengthy, thoughtful answers. Would that have changed enough minds in enough swing states to have made a difference? Maybe not, but now we'll never know.
I dunno. You tell me. How well did Harris going around the country giving the same non-specific, vaguely aspirational stump speech while flanked by JLo, Beyonce, Cardi B and the like work out>Scramby eggs and bacon.Comment
