Come on Elvis, cars shouldn't be fun. They should be designed to get us from point A to B the with the most fuel efficiency & the least amount of pollution.

That would be fine...it's gramps I would have worried about. Lead foot & thought he owned the road. The few times I did ride with him was spent praying.

At the current rate of oil consumption, we will run out of cheap oil in 15 years. Even with all the new oil discoveries we are just using it up too fast, so we no longer can diddle around on a solution. The major problem is oil feeds the modern world because it is what makes modern agriculture and food distribution possible.

As far as cool cars go, you can have any body style you like if the propulsion is something else than oil. When we finally get past the oil problem, there is no reason we can't have wonderful and exciting cars running on electricity or combusting something else.

Oil has been cheap and packs more power per pound per price than any other alternative. This is the reason we have used it for so long but that's changing.

An investor who runs a holdings company out of Singapore. Oil consumption has gone through the roof due to the modernization of developing countries. Saudi Arabia is running out of oil. They don't admit it but they are pumping their wells full of sea water, a sign that those are so low they have to bring the oil to the top. The UK is running out of it's North Sea oil as well as Mexico.

The Caspian basin is the last big source of CHEAP oil and that NATO is really after with it's middle east involvement and it's involvement in Georgia.

I also have family who work in the petrolium industry who have told me the same thing.

Who controls the oil controls industry and the people. Since there has been no real replacement for oil, the world is going to fight over it, because who controls the oil, controls industry and the food supply.

The 1970's was an OPEC oil embargo. Even with the big gas guzzlers world oil consumption was a fraction of what it is now. I went to Bejing in 1980 and everyone was riding bicycles. Go there now and it's looks like Los Angeles with lot's of smog and traffic jams. China is copying the American model of doing things building freeways and cars. Plus, we fly a lot more aircraft now and oil is used in our modern synthetics. Just the increase in population since the 1970's has changes things.

The 1970's was a man made oil crises the next one will be most likely caused by wells going dry and no cheap, easy access wells to replace them. Oil will still be around but it will be too expensive to use as fuel anymore.
