A crazy plan in 1975 became an attempted reality when the right forces got control of the White House, Pentagon, and intelligence agencies. In short, who controls the Persian Gulf controls the world economy. I was watching Zibignew Brzenski give a talk at the Council of Foreign Relations and he said Russia is no longer a serious super power, China is still behind the US in technology and militarily. I got the impression ZBig's corporate friends were just taking advantage of the Chinese cheap labor and manufacturing and then we would put China in check by controlling their oil.
We were just giving the Chinese whatever they wanted in exchange for open business relations. I think these assholes thought we could always put China in it's place by controlling key assets with our military and technological might.
