Iceland has the advantage of everyone who lives there is pretty much related to each other. Icelanders have the most uncluttered gene pool on the planet. That means no racial tensions to exploit and stir the pot as a distraction. When the people aren't fighting each other as a distraction, they focus on the real problem and the bankers go to jail.

Here in the US we get caught up in all the racial, religious, and political party shit. We are so distracted and fragmented that is why nothing has happened to the bankers here.
