    The "History Channel" is run by idiots with no historical education. Even their so called staff contributor "historians" sound rather dumb...

    The British Navy sank the French ships with a good reason - that they could conceivably tip the balance against the Royal Navy...

    The U.S. Navy was also fighting a low intensity naval battle with German U-boats by that time, so it wasn't long before we got into the war one way or another...

      1 French ship sunk. 2 damaged, scuttled by the French later in the war. I've checked it out on film and in print. All versions point to Churchill hoping to impress the US and the plan working.
