Typically you leave out the rest of the story here, Ford. Jesus knew what was in this guy's heart and that's why he told him to give up all his possessions. When Jesus told this dude to give up all he owned, did the guy run off and do so with a joyful heart? Nope. He went away all pissed off because he was loaded and he loved his money and cars and his Miami mansion more than he loved anything else, including the Lord.

Nowhere in the Bible does it say that Christians are expected to be freaking homeless morons that have to beg for food.
