Kushner was described by a Trump campaign insider as a "snaky motherfucker" who behind the scenes worked to first oust Lewandowski and later Manafort as campaign managers and was pivotal in working with Bannon and Conway when they joined the campaign in August. It was also Kushner who put the kibosh on Christie having any sort of post-campaign role in the Trump Administration, presumably as payback for Christie's prosecution of [Kushner's] father several years back.
Bannon's relationship with Trump doesn't go back more than a couple of years. So if Bannon HAS gotten on the wrong side of Kushner, in the end Bannon isn't going to come out on top if he wants to take Kushner on: I get the feeling Trump loves Kushner and looks upon him as a son more than he does his actual sons (although in a way who can blame him if that is true?). Clearly, despite all the public bravado, Trump and his Administration know the media tone, reports and portrayal of his presidency thus far - truth of it to one side - have been overall fairly abominable...and not JUST from "biased liberal media sources," either. All of Spicer's and Conway's protestations to the contrary aren't going to change that. Now, with the first attempt at coming through on a campaign promise by way of health insurance reform dead in the water before it even came to a vote, Trump is coming off not only dishonest to his voters when they learned what the consequences of Obamacare Repeal would mean for them but also inept at even so much as massaging legislation through Congress...and Trump's party controls both houses!
Somebody needs to be blamed, and Bannon's self-proclaimed enthusiasm for faux-anarchic state deconstruction policies hasn't translated into anything meaningful. If Bannon is 'Trump's Brain' perhaps a lobotomy is needed. What Bannon fails to realize is that people SAY they want the government out of their lives as a reflex, yet they still expect government to DO THINGS for them. People complain about entitlements and benefits others have when they aren't directly sharing (or are unable to recognize that they themselves ARE sharing) them, but the government services those people DO use are seen as necessities. Try taking away deductions for mortgage interest, or social security or Medicare/Medicaid from Trump voters and THEN see how much they applaud Steve Bannon's deconstruction and Ryan's austerity measures. God, guns and gays will get people to vote against their economic interests to a surprising point, but perhaps Trump and his Swamp Things are going to go past that point.
Better change the subject and get some troops into Syria, patriotism being the last refuge to which Commander-in-Chief Bone Spurs will cling.
