Kid Rock isn’t stupid. He’s a niche marketer. He’s borrowing from the Ted Nugent play book. He’s going to make money off this stunt because it’s great publicity and promotes him to a certain crowd. It would be stupid if he wanted to appeal to liberals. Then it would be a career killer.

Uh...those of us who don't agree with his video don't really give a damn if he made this video to help his career. We don't care what "play book" he's following or from whom he's borrowing.

Videos like his make me roll my eyes and think about how crazy and far gone some Americans.

My favorite beer (it's really tasty) is a Belgian Wheat Ale called Wittekerke. For some reason, I can't get it in Indiana...but I live two minutes from the border with Chicago (we pay far less property taxes on our home, I have to admit), so I should be able to pick up a good amount of Wittekerke soon.

I saw Ted in 1980 back when he was the nutcase in the loin cloth. Obe of the best guitar solos I ever saw is when he hoped up behind the drummer in the middle of Wang Dang Sweet Poontang and man he played some stuff that was pretty unique. It was Ted at his best.

I have a couple of pro-shot concerts from this era (late-70s-1980) and yes, those are some pretty amazing shows.

It is good, but have you ever heard the archive live album HAMMERSMITH '79? It's amazing. Puts DOUBLE GONZO to shame. The version of STRANGLEHOLD on this set is the best ever.

Every summer, my wife, daughter & I watch DAZED & CONFUSED in our home theater (always around the time school is letting out). It's not summer until we're watching the Moon Tower party with the STRANGLEHOLD solo as background music for Rory Cochrane's speech about Martha Washington getting a bowl of weed ready for George.

I'm 80% sure I've tried it, my friend...but I'm not completely sure. In the next few days, I will go to my local liquor store (I'm not a big drinker anymore, but I enjoy summertime beer drinking) and see if they have this.

What are your interests? The medieval to renaissance period where Catholic priests were allowed to marry and even have sex with girlfriends? A Pope even had 100++ illegitimate children. Most of what we're sold as "traditional marriage" is a modern construct, even the diamond ring thing is bullshit made up by diamond countries in the late 19th century...

None of this is actually of much true interest to me... I read a lot and look at big picture aspects from history. Actually, the context I was mentioning on the history of marriage was more based on much older cultures and tribal traditions in the BC era. You are correct in that "traditional marriage" that we refer to was shaped more from modern beliefs... if you scope modern as the last 2000 years or so.

But... the main point of my post was to give Nick shit for finding a perverted angle in his historical reference.
