It was a while ago, but of all things I think Consumer Reports rated it one of the best cheap (American Adjunct Lager style) beers and much better than Bud. Schlitz tried to battle back about 15 years ago with "Gusto" lager, using the formula close to what they had in the 1950's and was pretty decent as they were one of the top sellers in the 50's and actually outsold Bud for a while.. Never made its way here..

Stroh’s was the best cheap beer on tap. Then Corona became the thing. Then microbrews. No! You can't have the keys to the wine cellar!Comment

Stroh’s was unique because it was Detroit beer that became a national beer. They were on a roll in the 80’s and then disappeared. I grew up in the Rocky Mountains so Coors was the big beer but the northwest beers were popular too. Nobody drank Bud unless that was the only thing available. No! Somewhat, Genny Cream Ale is sort of a local PBR-like hipster brew but was regarded as awful (Genny screamers) when I was a kid. Their regular white can Genesee Beer isn't bad, it' just like something you'd stock in a bomb shelter as canned potable soda water. Not much flavor but beat the current alcohol sodas trend by decades and still better than Bud. It's good on a hot day as a "lawn-mowing-beer". They've upped their game with the seasonals though.
The local Buffalo brews all died by 1973 with Iroquois being the last one as most of the nation lost their local breweries in the beer holocaust of the 1970's. Canadian sourced beer is always big here with Labatt's moving their US Offices here a while back and I tend to drink Molson Canadian as a cheap option. You can buy a 12-pack of the Genny Kolsch I mentioned for $12 but some places still charge $6-8 for it on tap...
In any case a local craft brewery came out with an "Iroquois Beer" and it didn't age well and caused a backlash amongst the local Seneca tribe They would have had to change the brand like DC and Cleveland did their sports teams if they had made it past 1980:Comment

Guy I worked for in the early 90's bought Stroh's Ice Cream from the parent company. Looks like they sold it in 2005.Writing In All Proper Case Takes Extra Time, Is Confusing To Read, And Is Completely Pointless.Comment

Typical answer of someone who knows he has nothing left to say.
OK...let's try the short version...this last message got so long because you had exhausted all other avenues of argument and literally kept saying OVER AND OVER, "Stop ruffling feathers" and "Well, Kid Rock is rich."
1) "Stop ruffling feathers" is the exact term politicians that were funded by white supremacists used to justify slowing down when it came to legislating equal rights.
2) Marriage is a HUMAN phenomenon that goes back at least 6,500 years...LONG before Christianity adopted it for their own ceremonies.
3) To argue that people should stop "ruffling feathers" when trying to adopt something in society that 71% of Americans approve of (gay marriage) is asinine. Do you really think the 71% (and especially gay people who want to be married) give a shit about ruffling the feathers of bigots or traditional Christians who continue to practice some sort of warped version of Jesus' teachings based on excluding people?
4) You're basically saying, "Hey, I know you're TECHNICALLY right, but couldn't everybody be happy if we just GAVE these people the same legal rights but called it something else to keep the homophobes happy?" And the answer is, FUCK NO. Who cares if they don't like it?
5) To argue that people asking for their own legal rights are the ones who are dividing the country is moronic. It's the people trying to DENY said rights who are the dividers...and to argue otherwise is illogical and, frankly, I suspect insincere.
6) Who does gay marriage actually affect? Gay people. Does a gay marriage take anything away from any straight wedding? Does it affect YOU or homophobes in general if two gay guys get married and buy a house near you? No. It doesn't affect you one iota.
Do me a favor: lose the "ruffling feathers" argument. When I see your username these days, I keep picturing poultry.Roth Army Militia

Does Stroh's still exist?
I'm not nearly the beer snob I am when it comes to Scotch. I suppose I can enjoy a Corona on a hot day with lime.
My main thing these days (as Nick and I were discussing) is Belgian Wheat.
I totally DON'T understand the IPA thing. I think it's revolting.Roth Army Militia

I remember drinking Stroh's in the Summer of 1988. I'd been on a juice fast all week, so it didn't take much of that weak beer to do the job. As far as domestic mass produced beers go, I seem to remember it being fairly drinkable (as opposed to Budweiser or Coors). I haven't seen it around here in years though.Eat Us And Smile

The Los Angeles Police Department responded Thursday to a bomb threat made to Budweiser's Van Nuys factory.
This threat coincides with other nationwide bomb threats allegedly made to other Budweiser factories this week as the company refuses to cut ties with the transgender influencer. Dylan Mulvaney.
The partnership between Mulvaney and Bud Light has drawn criticism from conservatives on social media. "Musicians" Kid Rock and Travis Tritt have rallied to boycott Budweiser.
It was reported Thursday, that a Missouri based Budweiser distributor canceled all planned appearances of the iconic Clydesdale horses, citing threats to its employees. The Clydesdales have long been featured in Budweiser commercials.

I actually toured this brewery when I was a kid. They built an actual amusement park around it and called it "Busch Gardens" and the brewery tour was basically just one of the "rides" at the park. No free beer though, because I was very "underage" at the time. Don't think the park is there anymore though, just the shitty beer. And the MAGAtt terrorist threats.Eat Us And Smile

It's been said a lot during this latest pointless inane culture war but the great irony is that a few years back in less enlightened times many of us including me would have ripped the piss out of a friend who ordered Bud Lite and would have called them gay if they weren't...Comment

I guess it's just one of those things that just doesn't jive with my taste buds.
Sierra Nevada is possibly one of the first IPAs I tried...and it just didn't work for me. But I take nothing away from anyone who enjoys IPAs. Again, I love Belgian and French beers...and I know they don't always work for some people.Roth Army Militia
