It isn't tied into having a license or ID, it was an attempt to get more people on the rolls.

As of this April, state issued ID is free for those 17 and older.
And if they can't get to the DMV, and have no computer access then what? (BTW, that's a big thing in the South with elderly black people, which is mainly where this all stems from). In any case someone can vote then fill out a form testifying that they have the right to vote in the even if they don't have an ID. But great we spend so much time worrying about things that are not actually any sort of problem,,,,

See this has made me angry too because the UK conservatives saw the gerrymandering possibilities of voter ID from the US but there was push back from our strange upper house (unelected senate) which weirdly obviously shouldn't exist but sometimes does the right thing, and so they added provisions like that, So now a big expensive 'big government' waste of taxpayers money is being set up costing literally hundreds of millions to solve a non existent issue invented to try and gerrymander some votes.

I remember thinking that it was absolutely fucking impossible that someone called Barack Hussein Obama could be elected...

Voters are already fucking registered and I have to sign a book every time I vote as an affidavit. It's a bullshit trope. It's like saying we need to enact laws against succubus's raping our assholes with dildos in the middle of the night. Sure, maybe that's a thing but really it isn't a public safety issue and has almost nothing to do with most peoples reality...

It's maybe even a valid argument, I'm one of those people that pays tax once a year and it hurts every time. There is a position to be taken that only the people doing that get a vote because they are paying for what the government does. This would at least help us move on a bit culturally because it would stop retired people voting and they are way over represented at the moment because they have the time to vote.

What bugs me about it is the lying. If you think that the underclass, people without their shit together shouldn't get to vote because you pay tax and they don't then say that. Go back to the 1900s and say you need to have property a penis and a white face to vote just be honest about it and stop pretending it's about fraud.

With at least a few notable Republican pundits committing it! I think Ann Coulter erroneously voted illegally outside her residential polling station district. Should she be charged with a felony?

So you need to drive a car to be able to vote? Who the fuck ever risks committing a felony to add an extra vote or two in elections of millions of voters? It just doesn't happen. Postal votes maybe sometimes a little but not in person.

You have to prove you are a real person, the actual person and you have been approved by the county to vote. I can’t keep going to different polls voting multiple times.

Stuff I see on here and in real life with the 'I reject mainstream media' people. It's not a right or left thing happens to both.

    a) Mainstream media is flawed but if you wholesale reject it you are just replacing it with stuff with even fewer checks and balances.
    b) That stuff is by design going to reinforce everything you think and then make it more extreme because that will make you feed it
    c) It will make you think that stuff that doesn't actually matter very much is very important like trans stuff or whatever. On both sides of that argument.
    d) It makes you used to not hearing other opinions or facts outwith your tribe.

If you want to be better informed you have to learn critical thinking and listen to sources and voices and opinions that you may disagree with otherwise you have turned yourself into a sheep.

This is ironic because the people it happens to most think that they are the real 'free thinkers' when actually they have just fallen down a hole. This happens equally left or right leaning politics although at this point I think that's becoming bullshit and people should be paying more attention to authoritarian v non authoritarian because that is more likely to fuck with your day to day life. Especially if say your daughter gets knocked up on a one night stand at 17 and someone like Ron says she can't have an abortion because he gets to decide that.

I don't love or hate big business, but I have some hot fucking stocks and 401K's in several. so, what in fuck does it matter? Many "big businesses" are run by people that basically vote the way I do. Republicans have a lot of problems with many of them, like Trump attacking Amazon. Or the whole META thing. YOU"RE THE HYPOCRITE! Not me, man...

But feel free to quote me "crying about big business" and we'll go line by line!

Geroge fucking Soros anyone? He's a self-made billionaire, but Jesus fuck is he the devil to many Republcians....
