I think this election is going to come down to people like you.

Will people your age who would usually vote Republican but read enough to know what's going on hold their nose and vote for that guy knowing what it could mean? Not you personally but a few hundred thousand people like you demographically who live in the places that matter.

It's interesting how things appear to be shaping up at this phase... in my circles there's definite factors driving people to support Trump even if they can't stand his personality and bullshit. I know a lot of people in the oil & gas industry and Trump's drill baby drill plus promising deregulation has them excited.

One clear thing is emerging regarding unions... the union leadership may endorse the Democrats but the union members don't and are shifting further right towards Republican candidates. This is especially true in many of the blue collar trades and everything tied to energy production.

In my age group... investments are a critical thing for retirements... Hearing long time Democrats considering voting for Trump primarily thinking he's far better for the market than Harris and the current Democrats in office.

The most telling thing recently was Obama lecturing black men over their lack of support of Harris. Where I work about 60+% of our employee base is black and I have heard more people talking about this issue than ever before. Both men and women do not like the assumption that voting for Harris just because she's black is any good reason at all to vote for her. Obama's lecture pissed off a lot of people... men and women.

It is a very weird time and the dynamics of the current situation with this election drives me fucking nuts... the people part of it... personality, intelligence, leadership capabilities/style, communication styles, all of those aspects tell me no way I want either of these fucking nutjobs leading the country.

But in order to make a choice, I have drill down into elements that I can see cause/effect from policy perspectives that in the long term will be a somewhat better choice. Obviously it's a gamble because the future is uncertain and the variables are infinite. If I let my brain just focus on an emotional, better person choice... I'd be angry. But to me... that's wasted energy.
