What raised the cost of college here was making student loans easily available. The schools adjusted prices based on demand and are awash in money because of it. It’s basically a rip off but some of these schools are going to be in real trouble when the credit bubble bursts. You have a lot of idiots in debt they can’t get out of because they didn’t learn anything in school that generates enough income to pay the loan back. They would have been better off becoming a plumber. There’s a lot of garbage degrees. Easy credit causes all sorts of problems.

Literally half the students at university here with my kids are Americans fleeing the crazy fucking fees being charged over there.

It's turning into a big industry in Scotland the downside being it's getting more difficult to get in if you are a local. No calls yet to build a wall and make you guys pay for it but give it time...

Of course. Universities are for sale. When 1% own most the assets they buy influence. Education shapes the next generation so yeah, they would have great interest in influencing that. George Carlin nailed it. They want obedient workers. People educated just enough to make things run but not educated to the level to figure out they are being screwed.

started a topic CNN tells the truth for once.

CNN tells the truth for once.

CNN’s Fareed Zakaria shares his take on a change at elite US universities, highlighting how they have gone from being “centers of excellence” to “institutions pushing political agendas.”

Finally one moment of clarity and honest reporting. I am still in complete shock they allowed this.

Congrats Fareed Zakaria for what should have been said for decades regarding Higher Ed.
