Geddy Lee AND his guitar player - idiots both.

Nice dry, thin tone he gets with those Maytags running thru the front of house PA system.. what a dick.

    WHAT a dick!

There's nothing like a wall of 2 or more stacks each for bass and guitar. That's a show! You feel the bass response hit you in the chest and for me.. that is A show.

Back in the day, we'd rent a truck from Avon-Penske Rentals, down off Santa Monica and Labrea. They rent to the studios, like $40 a day plus mileage with a liftgate.

These days I would move them around in a trailer if I had to.

Hoo boy - tonite's score was not much more uplifting: another slant, but with the G12L-35's in it.

These sound exactly like those twerpy Jensen Mod 30s, so much that I wonder did Sica manufacture the low-cost Celestions?

One amp tech told me they were fake Celestions "manufactured by (Vorshan? Volshan, Varchen.. FIIK) in Germany. And that was back in the 80's but I haven't had much luck coming up with info on this "volshan"..

Anyhow: I don't like 'em. They sound much like the Utah speakers of old I used as a teenager, as the only 12" I could get my hands on pulled from old stereo equipment or PA's.

Basically, it came to portability, that little blue combo is fookin' heavy.

Yes, I am sacrificing tone for convenience.

However, I do use the 6101 for recording, and it sounds great. Sorry I can't expound much more on the sound quality of the speaker its self.

Now, back on topic, the $300 Slant cab I got a few years back has 3 mid-70s Greenbacks in them, and one early 80s 65-watt Celestion.

I prefer the tone of the 65-watt Celestion over the Greenbacks. Has a bit more in the upper mid-range, while still having some nice low end.

    That is a LIE!

You are waaaay to busy thinking about everything that everyone posts in these forums to spend all that much time thinking about speakers.

Next thing you will be trying to tell us that you invented the vaccuum tube or something.

Get down off your pedestal, garfuckle. :tongue0011:

You have already long passed the point where you have become a raving parody of yourself.

How MUCH DO YOU THINK OF SPEAKERS, garfuckle? 2 hours a day? 5? 3 43/64?

    Do tell!

You who know so much about everything on the planet except how to shut the fuck up!

I find two things about the G12H lately:

    1) they make a Chinese reissue one of the 70th Anniversary G12H they call "30th Anniversary" that sells around $150.

    2) they still make the original G12H in England, but it's over $200 bucks retail as is the other 4 UK-handmades (G12-65, greenback, bluedog, V30)

You could move a Vintage 30 into the 6101 - it's rated 70 watts. Unless the impedance is not selectable for output..

And usually those Blues Devilles have the chinese Fender speakers OR the Fender Special Designs made by Sica/Jensen.. and they're only just a little better sounding.

Logistics? Shipping? Costs? He'll have to be willing.

First of all I'm thinking he SAYS he got them free, maybe he didn't. So anything you send is a gains for him.

Second, shipping from Canada to the US is gonna be a customs hit. I bought some ebay Canada stuff they make the shit sit 3 weeks in line for the drug dogs to walk past and sniff before they send it over the border. Also I recall it's 30% more to ship the equivalent weight from Toronto to LA compared to say, from Webster NY.

Thirdly, I once shipped a pair of 65's that have about the same magnet weight, I believe to New Jersey and cost was $32 ground FEDEX.

So what do I think.. if he wanted to do you the "Bro" rate thing, it's gonna cost maybe $100 in shipping so maybe you send him $250.00.

You will get 150 for the 70s, your cost then for the upgrade is $100 bucks.
