I think in it's heyday Hee Haw was the most profitable show on television. It was a dirt cheap show to produce but always pulled great ratings. That show ran for a long time.
Oh god. Lawrence Welk. We would have Sunday dinner at my grandmother's house and the adults would watch Lawrence Welk. I remember Lawrence was doing candid Geritol commercials on the show. I always wondered what that crap in the bottle was he was pitching. I couldn't stand it. It was time to get out of there.

I actually liked Hee Haw had some good comedy and I got to see Roy play every week and Buck Owens could play some mean guitar...Chet Atkins guested... Glen Cambell and lots more country guitarists that could flat out show most rock guitarists, a lesson in humility.
Banjo greats and just some damn fine work on that show.
It was that or Lawerence Welk on Sat, evenings...oh the days of 3 television stations....500 now and still nothing on..lol.Leave a comment:

Roy is a bad ass player ! He could be on every top 10 list. But the rock guys seem to always be up there. Along with the guy I'm watching right now. Roy Buchanan. Tele badass.Leave a comment:

I was surprised to find out not too long ago that Roy was the guitar player on many of those early Wanda Jackson sessions. Seems Roy cut his teeth on rockabilly. Don't know who Wanda Jackson is? Then your life must suck.Leave a comment:
