You seem to think this somehow validates the Van Hagar reunion. Come on mate, this tour flopped big time. They had to constantly reduce capacities to save on costs, and even then many shows were only half sold. They couldn't even sell out some venues with capacities less than 8,000! How fucking pathetic is that?

Actually, a gross of $54m from 80 shows is pretty bloody ordinary for a reunion of a band with the Van Halen brand name. All these years to build-up the excitement and that's it? If they had not taken a huge pay cut mid-tour it would have been cancelled. I don't care if they came number one, this once great band is a joke now. Apart from the obligatory reviews, the media totally ignored them. Even their peers stayed silent. Remember the Kiss reunion, everyone whose ever cited them as an influence was telling the press they were going, or had been to a show. The silence over Van Hagar has been deafening.

Back in 1984, who would have thought the once mighty Van Halen would have come to this?

This means nothing to me. There are LIGHT YEARS between Prince and VH, especially in the dollar and cents area.

First off, this is a gross number which seems to indicate the tour was profitable=some nice spin.

Secondly, it does not indicate costs or net profit. So while it is nice to be number 6 and if we are wrong that it wasn't in the top ten, so be it. However, you are wrong Hagar supporters in that it was a success in any way shape or form. In fact, it was a huge failure, as it was billed to be and expected to sell much better. Ask Clear Channel or any of the other promoters (e.x. Fargo) if they would be willing to bet on VH next time around, I am sure the positive responses will be hard to find.

Those cunts may of made a few bucks, they made of released some new shit, but the fact is and it has been said SO many fuckin times on this board - THE TOUR WAS A FAILURE.

The band got absolutely nothing out of it. The new Best Of bombed, the only thing possibly holding it up in the first place was the fact that Diamond Dave made some appearances on it. From loads of reports, the band didn't get on, fights nearly broke out etc. ANY band that has a reunion and ends up fighting is not really a success, especially this piece of shit.

In the few short years Eddie has left to live, he will look back on this tour and realise that it was a complete waste of time. He should of listened to his real fans.
