hey i know you all feel the same but i thought..wtf Im gonna shout from the rooftops just how much I fucking love Van Halen.
2 years ago...meh...name meant little to me. heard Jump, d/l a few tracks...the beginning was there. fucking hagar weak stuff put me off...i thought...hey i really dig panama, running with the devil, and jump, but whats this right now, and why cant this be love stuff? i wasnt keyboard biased...cos i really liked ill wait. I got the best of in september 2003. i did kinda like it...tho i didnt actually listen to anything past dreams till bout may 2004...meaning I missed the 2 roth beauties at the end. it was awhile before in february 2004 I bought 1984, and I loved it!! Hot for Teacher..hell yea! Girl Gone Bad!! i loved it! round this time i did some more research...found out bout Dave's solo career. d/l some stuff....was NOT disappointed, i thought the edge was lacking from Skyscraper tracks tho.
the summer came round...i got a job in my local library. this became...VH platform. 2 of the staff were big fans(of CVH,obviously), and whenever people took Cd's out, id chat to them bout their music taste, see if they liked Van Halen, i made an impact on this guy planning a retro 70s night, cos next time he came in, i go....i remember...your the 70s man..and he goes...your the van halen fan!. also at this time I was persuading my friends of the CVH/DLR magic. I often dropped rothisms into convos, cracking my friends up. I bought the rest of the 6-pack, and VH1 blew me away....the whole thing from start to finish. I listened to the other 4 and thought...man.....I thought 1984 rocked...these are awesome!!! I got skyscraper...same impression as before..but hey...its Dave,he pulls it off!
getting ALAE/YFLM was alot harder, but definitely worth it. I wasnt expected much due to weak reviews i'd read...but I thought...I have 8 albums of DLR which just make my fucking day the moment they go on...I gotta give them a whirl. and I loved them too(YFLM in places), I mean....I love the solo on lady luck, drop in the bucket...the whole damn thing, ALAE=what a perfect song to live your life by, Tell the Truth, man it puts me in a smokey blues club the second i hear the first note. On YFLM, experience...ahhh i love that vibe, she's my machine, stellar tune, and the unbelievable laid back feel of Sunburn, a song i send to so many of my msn contacts and they all dig it, even if they arent "typical" dave type fans.
basically all this post is saying is that I love CVH and DLR. It is the music I intend to live my life by, it pumps me up and makes me feel untouchable, Man i just wanna have a laugh, make people laugh and smile, and have a few quick screws inbetween drinks and the post piss up cheeseburger. sometimes life can be that delightfully simple yet amazingly awesome. That is Classic Van Halen and David Lee Roth! and man....all I wanna do right now is just kick back and listen to some. I cant drink cos I have exams very soon, but if I could,i'd kick back, open a can or 4, invite round some mates and some girls, and just have a fucking good time
cos at the end of the day, thats all it is about
