I've as yet to even buy any music via purchasing it from a streaming site.
I think every studio album is available except 'DLR Band'. Both of best of-albums are not, 'The Best' and that 'Greatest Hits/The Deluxe Edition' that was released 10 years ago. And 'DLR Band' is only available on Amazon Music Unlimited but according to the DLR Cast that's a mistake. Apparently Dave doesn't like that album so that's the reason according to them. Guess he likes Sonrisa Salvaje since that's available lol. But perhaps that's a package deal with the original EEAS album. Who knows.

Then some of the newer singles are not available for every streaming service. Some are available in other place and some in another, if I remember correctly. Maybe Spotify has them all I'm not sure. Those Roth Lives singles were removed from everywhere.

Mississippi Power is missing also. Little surprised that that wasn't included in this release. They could have at least put that on there as a bonus. Instead they included You're Breathin' It [Urban NYC Mix]

The remastered tracks from the Best did sound better than the originals. These are also newly remastered versions so I'm buying this set.

DLR Band of course was an independent release from Dave himself.

Warner didn't release it so understandable why its not part of the new box set.

I have never heard that Dave doesn't like it. I think its some of his best work as most of us do. I hope we see a re-release of it soon.

Yeah I think it's one of his best too but that's what Darren(?) from the DLR Cast claimed that he has heard from someone close to Dave. He also claimed that it couldn't have been recorded in 10 days like Dave said at the time because there was too many players on the record or something like that.

Hoping for re-release too, maybe some remixing could be done but song wise it's up there with EEAS as his best solo album.

Hadn't thought of that re: DLR band being an independent release as to why it's not part of the new box set.

I remember being in a Strawberries record store in late 1998. I picked up YFLM on cd because my cassette tape had shit the bed, and there was a single copy of The Best and the DLR Band cds there. Hadn't heard of either of them being released - assumedly both of them got little to no promotion - so I bought them both along with the YFLM cd. While I was lukewarm over the Don't Piss Me Off track on The Best, I fuckin' LOVED the DLR Band cd.

I didn't even mind with the DLR Band cd that Roth and the assembled musicians were blatantly trying on more than a few tracks to emulate the harder-edged elements of the earlier CVH albums. It was like, thank fuck Dave is trying to reconjure that CVH spirit, because Van Halen III certainly didn't on their album which had came out earlier that year.

Saw him open up for Bad Company in 1999, and the only tune he played off the DLR Band was Slam Dunk! If memory serves, he intro'd the song by saying something along the lines of "something brand new for you off the new album". I think Slam Dunk! may well be the only tune he's ever played live off that album, and only at the gigs he did in 1998 and throughout 1999 ostensibly in support of the record.

              But, yeah. Fantastic stuff.

Little Texas, Goin' Places and Blacksand really stand out, but I love the rest of it, too. I even love the do-it-yourself/make-your-own-damn-record nature of the production in terms of the sound. And the cover art. Even the performances...when you listen to it, it feels like they just went in and banged it out quickly, rather than it being over-labored or whatever.

Yeah Dave released it on his own Wawazat! Records. He did everything in house apparently. Printed and distributed them. For those of us who actually bought the CD in 1998 its actually a nice collectible considering it came from the man himself.

While there isn't much in the way of extras I'm excited to get the new box set.
My older vinyl and tapes need an upgrade and this set is remastered so should sound better.

But watching the old videos again like California Girls just gives me a sad reminder of the eventual collapse of CVH.

Hot off the heels of the big sales and tour for 1984, Dave was riding high with his EP. The videos were in heavy rotation in 1985.

All signs pointed to the next CVH album and tour to reach even higher levels.

But I guess it just wasn't meant to be.

Got Ray's sig after the Nautica Stage show in '02 and John 5 at one of his solo shows a few years later

Here in Finland/Nordic it was released as "David Lee Roth". If I remember correctly it's somewhat rare.
