    You move along.

Just because Dave left does not mean it's his fault he's not in the band right now. He has stated that he would like to reform with Van Halen. They, and by they I mean Ed and Al, don't want him in Van Halen so it's entirely their fault that there is no real reunion.

The reason they don't want him back is because the likely success of such a venture would make everything Van Halen have done without Roth since '85 seem totally irrelevant. Besides this, on a personal level they really hate Dave.

Both Dave's & Edward's. Dave had no patience for waiting for Ed and Ed was too lazy to get into the studio. A little of both.

Van Halen is obviously just another band to fall prey to the cunning evil of Yoko Ono

I'd say EVH gets the brunt of the blame. But, I think it's mostly asshole Al's doing.

If I recall correctly, "the split" in 85 was supposed to be a "break". In his book Dave talks about that night at his fathers: he told ed, your brother is up to 2 six packs a day, etc and when everybody gets things worked out, we can reconvene. They hugged, thats it. THEY went out and got hagar.

I've been holding back on saying this for far too long, but I think the time has come for the truth to be known...

                It's my fault.

                I killed classic VH.

And I'm the reason Dave, Winoboy, Divorceboy and The Fat Quiet One will never reconvene as a creative entity.

                And I'm glad. :D

So now you can stop kicking off endlessly, relentlessly, pointlessly navel-gazingly speculative threads like this. Go outside, get some sun, kiss a girl (or a boy/sheep, if you're of the Van Hagar persuasion), catch a wave...anything apart from just going around and around and around in useless conversational circles. I'm sacrificing myself here in order to free you all. Don't ask 'Why? Just accept it as fact, because it's as good an answer as any. It's all my fault.

Ed is to blame and searches for alcohol as self-medication, but if you've read both past and current interviews you can read between the lines that Al is in charge and he can get Ed to believe and do anything through manipulation. He's not obvious about it but acts as if he is a silent partner who Ed looks up to since he is older. I highly doubt Al looks up to Ed or takes his opinion seriously. Ed is a rock guitar innovator but a follower in all other aspects of his life. Luckily Dave led the 1st half of the bands career (and he led them to the top) but Al wanted more control and convinced Ed to dump him. [Mike was and is a sheep that has no balls to stand up for himself] Since then the band has been on a steady decline and made some asnine moves esp w/ Ray Daniels (Al's former brother-in-law) etc....

Duping Dave burned another bridge and was Al's attempt to bring in more cash the same way this tour is. It's a history of bad business decisions that might make the brothers more money in the short term, but burns major bridges w/ everyone they are screwing in the long run.

Good theory, but it really is my fault. Just accept it and move on.
