June 10, 2011...MAX: A True And Dear Friend, Has Passed Away

To put MAX's legacy into perspective, he was one of the greatest posters in Army history and one of the greatest in VH/DLR internet land. Period. He definitely had a posting style all his own and always had people's attention no matter what topic he posted about, whether it was about Dave's latest exploits or what he was cooking for dinner that night.

I had sort of an on-off relationship with Jeremy. Originally, we were friends pretty much right from the get-go, then some shit happened here that was silly and we had issues, then we put that behind us and became friends again. Then after I started with RothFans, we really had a great relationship. After I made some mistakes with the site, our friendship soured again. I never had a chance to re-mend that relationship after that. I just hope he never took anything personally and I never meant for anything to be that way. I had wish I had talked to him again, but I'm a stubborn ass sometimes. For the majority of our relationship, he support me up as much as anyone else here.

I will remember Jeremy as a tireless supporter of his friends and online family. I will think fondly of his presence. I know he is at peace. God bless you, Maximus.

It is with a heavy and broken heart I announce to you folks that our dear friend MAX passed away this morning after a lengthy and mighty battle with brain cancer. On June 4 of last year, he was diagnosed with glioblastoma, a horrible and devastatingly aggressive tumor. After several surgeries and some ghastly dialysis (which left him confused and barely able to reason at times), it was determined recently that there was nothing more his doctors could do for him. This matter has been kept relatively quiet by his family, out of regard for his/their privacy.

MAX was my first and truest friend in cyberspace, a man who freely and willingly gave of himself when my own family was in a time of terrific crisis, never asking for a god-damned thing in return. That's the kind of fellow he was.

He loved you guys. He was an at times unhinged, certifiable lunatic, a genuine Roth Army member in every regard and a bighearted, generous and dependable friend. We are all a little bit better off for having known him, and equally lessened by his passing.

Farewell Jeremy. You will indeed be missed.

I am so sorry to hear this tragic news. I remember Max's posts well - full of passion for Van Halen and I always loved reading what he had to say. I'm pretty sure I read Max's review of a show from the last tour - and that he had a fantastic time. If my memory is right then I am so happy to think that Max saw Dave back with Van Halen. My thoughts are with his family and friends, including you Chef. R.I.P. Max - I will have a drink to you tonight mate.
