The legendary Va Beach VH Fan has decided to step down from Webmaster duties after many years of sterling service to this site.
From the late 2000s with Sarge being posted on crazy long active duty stints abroad and the other Webmasters at the time being variously occupied with life, careers, hookers and blow, Va stepped up from moderator to webmaster and very often single handedly kept this site working without ego or self promotion. He has also been responsible for getting the site onto social media and liaising with Dave Lee Roth's people.
I'm going to take the unusual route of keeping this as a closed thread as it seems incongruous to respond to Va's request to have a lower profile by getting into a 20 page thread about the plainly unfair and in one case spectacularly ungrateful way he was treated at times by a small minority of posters here while being in the uncomfortable position of having responsibility without power as he carried out the policies set in place by Sarge before he left.
Anyway time to move on.
We've created a new group here for the founder/former webmasters to allow them to help and advise us as we move forward with the site while not having any moderation responsibilities - they are the new 'purple people'.
In the circumstances please feel free to thank this post as a thank you to his huge contribution.
EDIT: LOL just realized this also has the advantage of keeping my nose just ahead of him in the Thanks leader board at least for the moment...
