    Worst Records of '04

    Besides BOBW, of course.

I'll start with a nod to REM's Around The Sun. The cover really sums up the whole record: sunny, ethereal, and totally lacking in focus.

Haven't heard it yet, but everything they have done since Bill Berry left the band has been disappointing

Can't agree. I loved UP. That's their most underrated album.

I agree. whoever thought the drummer was the glue in creating a great band? Bill, as it turns out, was the big "rock" fan in the band...he liked hooks, he liked catchy choruses, he liked a good beat...all things missing from REM since he left.

(Bill was also the primary writer of the music for major REM songs like Perfect Circle, Man on the Moon, Everybody Hurts. proving that the joke "what was the last thing the drummer said to the rest of the band before they fired him?" has exceptions to it...

(the punchline is "Hey, guys, check out this awesome song I just wrote!")
