The US team has been lucky to win much of anything given the competition on the world stage. They have fielded some decent teams and have some pretty good players but the reality is they are are second rate team. On most of their teams they have the typical selfish mouthpiece (Roenich, Tkachuk, Chelios to name but a few) and the "team" concept is lost on them.Originally posted by POJO_Risin

Dude you are such a loser it isnt even funny....The fact that there are more then double the teams from the US, the economic factor, the ability to pay larger salaries all contribute to US teams being more competive. Let us not forget, those US teams are made up of mostly Canadians so if there was parity in the league (i.e an even playing field) you would see a number of different teams (US and Canadian) winning the cup.

Winning the Cup doesn't matter.
Becasue we don't have the money, it doesn't matter. We've only been playing for it forever and is a major part of the league's history and lore.
Detroit wasn't always the Yankees of the NHL.
Ask those Canadian players coming out if the Cup doesn't mean something.
Montreal wouldn't think it was important, they are the real Yankees in terms of championships.
