I vote Nay.
But why is the Neo-Mod's only alternative to Immediately Cut n Run?
What I ask, is the PROBLEM with setting a time table, like the IRAQI GOVERNMENT has asked for, and stick to it?
What is wrong with cutting our losses?
What is wrong with making them stand up for themselves gradually?
Aren't you a little tired of wet-nursing them?
And wheat about the 14 permanent military bases being constructed?
You can do better than this, Bri.

You would consider this telling the "insurgents" that they have won.
But then a firm timetable gives them the same message according to you.
Staying the course, , is actually PROVING that we're losing this war......
So what exactly is a "victory" to you guys at this point?
When every last "insurgent" is dead?
Good luck with that one.
The war is lost. The only small chance of winning was to have the aftermath planned for an to keep the existing Iraqi police and army together, just changing some of the bosses.
The US goverment totally fucked this up.

Sad, but true.
The ego is a terrible thing when it costs innocent people their lives so some can save face.
Did Reagan "cut n run", Brie?
yes.
Did Bush the Elder?
yes.
I guess that may explain it.
Maybe we should rewrite this thread to:
"all in favor of continuing to stand by and watch U.S. troop being killed in what is an increasing civil war, and aimless occupation, so we can blame Bush's failures on the next President, presumably a Democrat, say aye."

1]
How could it be suddenly, when the war was over 3 years ago?
How could it be completely, when we are building 14 bases?
2]
Why so negative, Brie? Why can't you see all of the GOOD NEWS coming from a gradual pull-out?
3]
When have you ever cared about the UN?
Brian is just pushing buttons with this thread, why indulge him?

Because he opens himself up to ridicule with it.
It's nice when the Neo-Mods in here do our dirty work for us.
Besides, what a great opportunity to showcase the flaws and hypocrisy in their arguments.
I thank Brie for this thread.
I think it's fucking hilarious.

You delusional liberal communists are completely uninterested in hearing the slightest bit of positive information comming out of Iraq...
Stay on the side of the terrorists, that's apparently where you belong...
it's not so simple as just saying let's leave.
remember, however bad it was in iraq (and it was bad) it was at least stable.
whether we were right or wrong in going in may be up for debate.
but it's pretty certain that we removed any semblance of stability that the iraqis had. what happens to them, including civil war, is our responsibility.
i am not necessarily opposed to a timetable for pullout, but what happens if the iraqis aren't ready at that point? do we make the date symbolic? or do we pull out, consequences be damned?
no easy answers. (which, of course, is why the prophylactic is much preferable to the pullout...)

Fucking sheep. Iraq didn't attack us. But your leader let the relatives of the person who DID attack us get the hell out of Dodge after 9/11. Then he got back at Hussein for trying to kill his daddy, and forgot all about bin Laden. But that's OK, right? In your wool-covered eyes, the whole thing makes sense, doesn't it? LMMFAO
Fuck you in the ass with a rusty hammer, Faux News Boy.
If WE were "siding" with terrorists, then we would WANT us to stay and get slaughtered on a daily basis while watching a civil war unfold and hundreds of civilians die.......
Oh, now I get it.
YOU are on the side of "terrorists" . Don't look now, Mensa......but you guys PLAYED RIGHT INTO THEIR HANDS.

It was a tough pill to swallow, but facts are facts.
I think we actually do need to pull out at this point because it is never going to improve as long as we are there.
14 permanant bases?
THAT is news to me and i was of the impression that Rummy didn't want that for some reason...Oh yeah, that's right, he avoided actually answering that several months ago while giving the impression that we had no plans to do so.
My how quickly a complex thing like building 14 bases came together, eh?
This American is damn sick and tired of having our noses so firmly planted in other nations asses.
I propose a new foreign policy with the first line stating that from now on we mind our own fucking business.

besides, I'm quite sure Elvis knows where i'm coming from even if he doesn't agree.
But the fact is that i have dumped girlfriends that say one thing and do another, so why should i stick with a government with the same bad habits?
I'm not changing sides, i don't have one anymore.
but i do have eyes and i can see what's going on without ever tuning in a news channel.
I just choose NOT to be a political enabler for either side and i'm pissed off at how bad things have been managed by everyone.

If anyone is to blame for the largest majority of the friction in the world it is the UN for it's lax attitude towards it's own Resolutions.
Small problems have become HUGE one's because they suck at backing up what they say, do, and vote on.
Then they stand against everyone who tries to enforce the laws they themselves have imposed.
Got my vote. I don't want anything to do with defending this Zionfascist bullshit, or any corporation's profits. It's sickening that these bastards have abused the United States military for 60 fucking years now.Originally posted by Cathedral

1. Yes. Although a slower redeployment would make more sense. There are many shades of grey my nuanceless friend.Originally posted by BigBadBrian (R-Not Very Smart)

3. Flip the UN the bird when they try to get up a "peacekeeping"

The redeployment stance has been cheapened to "cut and run strategy" by right wing propagandists just like BigBlandButthole here. Another example of the use of this neocon method would be the word "liberal." A negative connotation was attached by hate radio personalities such as Limbaugh and Hannity. This method is designed to marginalize and neutralize any argument that they cannot otherwise handle.
2. What do you mean by fireworks? Do you mean an outbreak of violence? What the hell do you think is going on right now? Those American soldiers are not dying while building some school.
3. The UN was shown the "bird" when Bush ignored the UN and ordered an illegal invasion. Resulting in thousands of deaths just like abortion.
I'd like to think it was a mistake, a terrible-terrible mistake.Originally posted by Nickdfresh

But the rational side of me is not so quick to judge another man's intentions anymore.
I've been seriously wrong too damn many times.
Like the chorus in an old Titan song (my old band) stated:
-Too many times, too many times, we lose control-
-Too many times, too many times, we never know-
Oh, and how about the 2nd verse of that song:
-Too many people bein' taken, taken in for the ride-
-Too many lives they were breaking, tellin you lies that insult your pride-
Looking back i realize we were a tad political, and a bit prophetic.

I forget what building it was, but the entryway floor was a giant mosaic of Bush 1's face. Their ultimate insult is putting feet or shoes on someone's face, and they tread over this everyday.
