Stockholm.
I have this entire show on DVD.
Poor Jimi looked completely worn out on this set, and played like it as well. -
Worn out or strung out?
Noel is carrying his ass and keeps noding over to Jimi, like "C'mon...get your shit together!"
I haven't seen this before...is the rest of this as bad as that clip?Comment

I think Jimi committed suicide. His management were a bunch of crooks who got him so far into debt Jimi had to constantly work to raise money. They would put him on these killer scheduals and burn the dude out. He obviousely was a real manic dude towards the end. Tired and unhappy looking. No! You can't have the keys to the wine cellar!Comment

Jimi Hendrix died pennylees. He like had a checking account with $19 in it. The management provided everything else. When he died his poor father who was a landscaper in the Seattle area had to come up with the money to bury Jimi. The dude died broke. No! You can't have the keys to the wine cellar!Comment

If I didn't know Jim History. I would still be looking at this vid like I did, face front, without sweating the sleepy delivery.
There is something there, something intangable, superior, grand.
On a bad day, he is still looking and sounding like something more.Comment

The Experience was on the verge of breaking up. Jimi had not wanted to do that short European tour, but his manager needed an infusion of cash to buy the Generation Club in NYC, which eventually became Electric Lady Studios.
Hendrix and Noel Redding were barely on speaking terms by that point.
Yes, the rest of the performance is pretty much null and void, though it does have it's occasional brilliant moment.
Not one of their best gigs.Comment

Is there any behind the scenes talking from Jimi and the band?Comment

You guys should read 'Scuze Me While I Kiss The Sky : The Life of Jimi Hendrix biography by David Henderson.
It's an extremely interesting read.
And if you'd like to see the opposite end of the spectrum...Hendrix just destroying a place, check out the Rainbow Bridge video..Last edited by jhale667; 07-10-2007, 10:48 PM.Originally posted by conmee

The David Henderson story, while giving an interesting read, is the "lite" Jim biography.
THe real ones to check out are "Jimi Hendrix: Electric Gypsy" and "Jimi Hendrix: Setting The Record Straight" with Mitch Mitchell. Also, Noel Redding's book provides some interesting stories.
Goddammit.
Wish he was still alive.
Oh well.Comment

Look at Eddie Van Halen. If he died in a plane crash in 1984 he would be a bigger rock and roll legend than he is now. Eddie just lived long enough to show us the asshole Roth had been hiding from us in the prime days. No! You can't have the keys to the wine cellar!Comment

Eddie probably should have died in a plane crash in 1984/1985 then he would have never came out of the asshole closet."I've always been academic. I've trained in martial arts since my 12th birthday. I like contact sports, history books and the fine art of ridicule and sarcasm. I can gang-sign the alphabet and I own a Mercury low-rider. I am a black man trapped in a Jewish body."Comment

That SG was on display at the Hard Rock Cafe in London when I was there over the Christmas holidays in 1989.Comment

There's a better color clip of him playing that SG on a 69 appearance on the Dick Cavett show with Jimi playing Isabella. Pretty funny interview footage from that show as well and you can really get a glimpse into Hendrix's sense of humor."If you want to be a monk... you gotta cook a lot of rice...”Comment
