Reliable password recovery software?

OK....

So I inherited a laptop. It's an IBM ThinkPad running Windows 2000 Pro.

I don't have the Admin password nor any other local user password and I need to get in.

Does anyone have any good suggestions for reliable password recovery software or any other ways to hack around the password?

Help me, Roth Army.....you're my only hope. (Let's see if that gets a reply from Bob... )

Get that on another computer, burn it to CD, boot the laptop from that cd.


You can freely burn ISO files with <a href="http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm">Iso Recorder</a>
Wait about 1 minute and all of your passwords will be there

No problem! That's usually the way to do it... and it sure beats reinstalling the OS.

Also, I can't BELIEVE someone sold you a laptop without wiping it first. You might find some real treasures on it later

The beauty thing is that I didn't pay a dime for it. I literally inherited it!

That ophcrack looks interesting. I had an older Linux boot disk for password recovery/changing, but it was all command line shell stuff and not all that automated. Needed to know Linux and Windows both very well to use it effectively.

This thing looks like it runs itself. Power to the people!

Thanks Sesh. I might give it a try as well as the ophcrack. I booted the laptop with ophcrack, and it did give some info., but it didn't pan out.
