Okay. I think its a pretty well song. Do you all think it was about back in the day in the early VH before they hit it big and during all their good times?

Dave says its not. He says its about another group of friends. But, it does sound that way. I love the song and can not understand why it didn't make "The Best"
I think we can all identify with this song in our own lives, which is why I dig it.
“Why do people say "grow some balls"? Balls are weak and sensitive. If you wanna be tough, grow a vagina. Those things can take a pounding” ― Betty White
Damn Good is a damn good song.
Mezro...Dave needs to add Damn Good to his set...
Got me a date with a shaved Asian. I know, I know; I think it's fucked!
Didnt know he said that it wasnt bout him and vh
Damn good is damn good.
Sure is, sure is
Sure is!
"Damn Good" IS DAMN GOOD! He SHOULD add it to his setlist. It's one of my top 5 favorite David Lee Roth-related songs.
I always thought it told the tale of VH days gone by... great tune
So did i
It's a great tune but ya know what's better... SLAM DUNK! Sorry, I just get a kick out of this song!
Ive only heard it once, really kewl though
Ya heard Damn Good only once?
No. I heard Slam Dunk only once because i dont have the album. I heard it off this site, and from what i head it sounded bad ass
you know i just cant get into the 1998 dlr album....i dont know why.

Got beef with my comments? Blow me!
ALAE is pretty good too!
Damn Good is definitely one of the best tracks on that album.
I think it's about VH, at least a bit, for sure.
"What we've been doing, which is great and certainly cost saving, is I train in the sand pit in McDonald's. I do a few laps. I go through the tunnel a few times. The kids don't mind if I smoke. Plus, when I'm done, lunch is right there."- DLR 2003

I love DAMN GOOD. I think, for sure, he knew people would interpret the lyrics as being about VH. And knowing Dave, the lyrics were probably a bit contrived because he knew the fans would get a big kick out of it. While he was singing this, the band were badmouthing him right, left and center still. Talk about fucking insecurity.
Ill try my best to get that album, thanks
It's a fuckin brilliant tune, and for sure it is about Van Halen.
Yah he does.Originally posted by Mezro

dlr band doesnt sit well with me...slam dunk is just another double bass sorta song...just like hot for teacher, im the one, its showtime..and the list goes on...
blacklight is a cheezy ledzep style song..and i cant get into the rest.
i think the diamond dave cover album is great and it has thug pop on that. i love that even though the guitar opening hook reminds me of led zep's "trampled under foot"
Damn Good is the best song on Skyscraper IMO.
Should have made it on to Dave's Best of CD.
Can't think why it didn't get on there to be honest with you.
Achtung Baby I say, I say...
SLAM DUNK!!!
ha. im in the minority i guess. mayb the only one. but i think it has a forced sound to it. lyrically. i like his voice at times. but its the only one.
"FUCK YOU, YOU FUCKIN' BITCH! WHO THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU ARE ANYWAYS? TALK TO ME LIKE THAT? FUCK YOU. DRAG QUEEN LOOKIN' WHORE- YOU AINT SHIT. YOUR THE FRECKLE TO THE LEFT OF MY BROWN EYE. NOW GO MAKE YOURSELF USEFUL...OH, PUT DAD ON THE PHONE"

I never got the impression Damn Good was about VH. I always thought it was about him as a kid just growing up and hanging out with his friends. Then stardom hit and took all of that innocence and simplicity away. I think the song is about him looking back on that and not realizing what he had at the time. The song has a sense of reflective sadness to it.
RIDE TO LIVE, LIVE TO RIDE
LET `EM ROLL ONE MORE TIME
I love it today just as much as I did the first time I heard it 25 years ago! It's a very well written song and it's got such a great feel.
